Crast Ares

Half-elezen Hero

Born in Ishgard to a lowly servant and an Elezen supremacist, Crast only ever felt parental love in the arms of his Ala Mhigan mother. Upon his birth he was taken from Ishgard by his mother to escape the wrath of his father. After their escape, they arrived within Ala Mhigo just months before the Imperial invasion.Falling for a Ala Mhigan soldier, his mother gave birth to Crast's half-sister Rosemary several years after himself. He fell in battle, and it wasn't until several more months later when Crast's mother defended a mi'qote woman fleeing Ala Mhigo that another final addition to the family was made. After the fall of Ala Mhigo, Crast moved to Limsa Lominsa with his mother, her new partner, his half-sister, and his new stepsister Alessia. The three of them grew up within the confines of the city, with Crast's mothers both taking up jobs as pirates and smugglers out of La Noscea's infamous ports.Crast was a very unassuming young child, spending most of his days growing up learning to fish and being obsessed with stories of the adventurers that were slowly coming to Eorzea, but he never set forth from La Noscea...Until that is, after the Calamity devastated his happy family life. His mothers both went to help the adventurers in their fight against the Empire, and when the Calamity occurred they were pronounced missing and assumed dead. Rosemary was the first to leave La Noscea, followed by Alessia, and finally, years after the Calamity, Crast finally got the push needed to leave his island home for the first time in his life. Now he has trained in aether and the use of red magic by a friend, as well as having been looking into the art of tinkering with his pistol to channel his aether as well as his blade. After a tragic incident in an Allagan Facility, Crast ended up alone in Garlemald where he was taken by a violent subsect of a former legion run by the Trecadex family. Here he was subject to brutal punishment and torment alongside many captors from Bozja, including a hrothgar named Rashak who he came to form a bond with. When the sky went red, his captors fled aboard their airship, leaving them to deal with a horrible outbreak of blasphemic monstrosities. For weeks they battled, Crast finally being saved by Rashak who passed on his blade and soulstone to him, leaving him to take up the mantle of a true gunbreaker. He was rescued and now uses Rashak's blade to defend others the way Rashak defended him. He has even taken up more advanced tinkering with his partner, H'naka Yuu, to create a new set of armor and even his own gunblade.

Child of La Noscea - While he wasn't born in the pirate-filled coasts of Vylbrand, he did grow up there. He spent most of his time learning to fence and shoot when he wasn't fishing. His last five years were largely spent as a bartender at various bars around the spires of Limsa Lominsa and fishing.Gold-hearted Mercenary - Crast only takes on those that are morally upright and does his best to help people. He may have done a job for you! He's always available for hire and puts advertisements for his services up for acquisition in most places he visits.Scholar of Little Renown - Crast was a failed arcanist, having not been able to sit still long enough to properly learn arcanima in a classroom setting. He has since often been found in places of learning perusing tomes and taking notes. He used to stick around La Noscea, but since venturing out and broadening his horizons he has traveled all over Eorzea.A Drinking Problem - Not to brag but Crast does drink a lot and frequents many bars around Eorzea and even Kugane when he can find one, though admittedly his time is more spent within Eorzea. You may have seen him at one of these bars taking notes and reading by himself, while far from the life of the party he is generally at least at the party.

Elemental Affinities
Wind - While Crast's affinity for wind isn't his strongest, it is the element that is aspected most easily for him. He is able to use it for a myriad of utility movement spells as well as offensive capabilities. When summoned or controlled by Crast, his Wind magic takes on the feel and smell of a La Noscean seabreeze.
Crast is also fairly well tuned into the movements of the wind around him, allowing him to react quickly to attacks.
Fire - Crast's strongest affinity is to the element of Fire. When summoning flames they appear a distinct sapphire/azure in coloration, and burn both hot and bright. He has taken to naming this variation "the Azure Ember." While his attachment to fire is far stronger than Wind, it also drains him a lot quicker to use it as it is hard for him to control it.__Moves__
Azure Ember Snapshot - A move Crast invented with the use of his gun, channeling fire-aspected aether into it and firing a quick blue streak of flame. A basic move that still packs quite a punch.Azure Ember Ripwire - A move Crast uses by slamming his hands into the ground and ripping upwards, causing veins of flame to tear up like snakes from the ground.Azure Ember Eruption - Stomping the ground causes Crast to send fire down into it, and then have it erupt under his opponent.Azure Ember Legion - Crast's first limit break. When burning as much aether as he can safely muster and going beyond his limits, Crast can summon aetheric artillery in the air behind him and unload a barrage onto his foe.The Echo
A rather new development in Crast's life was his own variation of the Echo awakening within him after a brutal injury in Ishgard. While he doesn't remember much about the initial awakening, he is tormented by dreams of a burning city.
His Echo works on a principle of psychometry, or divining the past via objects rather than people. When in contact with an object of great aetherical or sentimental value he can sometimes be presented with visions of the object or its owner's past.
